Wizzer, the type of damage a round does doesn't define the weapon that fires it. Technically it is a machine gun as it has an automatic feed system. The gas from the fired round cycles the bolt which loads a new round into the chamber, and the seer plate allows it to fire continually instead of locking after every round.

thats not a machine gun... machine guns use the kinetic power for penetration. this one uses explosive power for airbursting.

The barrel and the receiver/bolt assembly can be changed out in less than 2 minutes to convert the unit from a grenade launcher into a .50 cal machine gun.
