Maybe because the movie would suck if the fight wasn't there? Maybe because action is what people want to see rather than a victory without combat? Please think before asking silly questions. If you want to make a movie, go ahead, but don't be surprised if you get only about 20 viewers. Go ahead and make a movie of your own and don't go telling others what they should or should not do in the process of filming. The Wachowski bros created this film, it was their decision to do it like this.

do you know the difference between 'no' and 'know'? regardless....it's not the action of the movie that's interesting, it's the idea. and in that idea is the notion that 'the one' can control his environment like no other, i think they could have come with something better than martial arts and gun fights...if the 'muscles' he's using to fight aren't real, why use them at all? why block punches with his arms when he could easily block them with his mind? and retaliate with it as well...
